Following the devastating CZU Lightning Complex fires in August 2020—which destroyed over 1,000 residential units and 500 additional structures—4LEAF executed the full Fire Recovery Program for the County of Santa Cruz to help fast-track the rebuilding process for thousands of displaced residents. 4LEAF established a dedicated, one-stop Recovery Permit Center (RPC) utilizing the County’s electronic ePlan portal, while coordinating closely with multiple County divisions for septic, grading, drainage, and infrastructure reviews. The comprehensive scope included reviewing development standards, performing multidisciplinary plan checks for building, planning, environmental, septic, well, and engineering regulations, and driving public outreach efforts. Additionally, 4LEAF delivered specialized fire access, suppression, and prevention plan review and inspection services for the Ben Lomond, Santa Cruz County, and Boulder Creek Fire Districts, utilizing innovative alternative means and methods (AMMR) reports to navigate the region’s unique topography and accelerate code compliance.
